Duroc

Modified bis acrylic resin-based for bite registration and splinting of implant

  • Resin-based bite registration material formulated without any addition of HEMA, TEGDMA, BisGMA
  • Duroc has been developed from a mix of special resins to give one of the most rigid bite registration materials available.
  • Very high hardness.
  • High flexural strength.
  • Negligible linear shrinkage.
  • Burn with no residue.
  • Reduced exothermic reaction when setting.
  • Fast setting time: ~ 40 seconds.
  • Blue for a strong contrast.
  • Easy to trim the excess.
  •    Fixing together implant transfer caps before final impression.
  • Bite registration, especially when the centric relation is unstable.
  • With its qualities, Duroc fix perfectly and fast the two parts of a bridge infrastructure.

Safety notes

Warnings

  • Contains polymerizable methacrylate resins which may irritate skin, eyes and oral mucosa and may cause allergic contact dermatitis in susceptible persons.
  • Avoid eye contact to prevent irritation and possible corneal damage. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
  • Avoid skin contact to prevent irritation and possible allergic response. In case of contact, reddish rashes may be seen on the skin. If contact with skin occurs, immediately remove material with cotton and wash thoroughly with water and soap. In case of skin sensitization or rash, discontinue use and seek medical attention.
  • Avoid contact with oral soft tissues/mucosa to prevent inflammation. If accidental contact occurs, immediately remove material from the tissues. Flush mucosa with plenty of water after the restoration is completed and expectorate/evacuate the water. If sensitization of mucosa persists, seek medical attention. Precautions
  • The use of this product is restricted to dental professionals.
  • The product must not be used for any purpose other than specified in the indications.
  • Wear suitable protective eyewear, mask, clothing and gloves.
  • Protective eyewear is recommended for patients. Contraindication The product is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reaction to methacrylate resins.

Clinical procedures

First use of a new cartridge

• Remove and discard the cap of the cartridge. Under no circumstances should the cap of the cartridge be used to reseal the cartridge as this could result in the inclusion of air bubbles, inducing a cross contamination (base/catalyst) and leading to a prematured polymerization of the product.
• Check whether both cartridge openings are free and remove obstructing material, if any, with a suitable instrument.
• Before installing a mixing tip, bleed the cartridge onto a mixing pad until the base and catalyst pastes are at the same level.

Bite registration

1. Slightly dry teeth before registration but, if necessary, isolate the surface to be registered with a vaseline film or equivalent (in presence of new composite, for instance).
2. Block important undercuts (pontics, embrasures) with wax or liquid dam (ex: Notre Dam).
3. Apply Duroc onto dry teeth. The bite registration should be about 3 to 4 cm length.
4. Ask the patient to close tight, to obtain a perfect registration of the occlusion.
5. As soon as the material started its polymerization (after about 30 seconds, it reaches an elastic phase), ask the patient to open his mouth.
6. Take the bite registration material off the mouth at this stage. Complete polymerization occurs after 2 more minutes.
7. Trim the bite to keep the cusp tips, with a resin bur, to avoid repositioning mistakes.
8. The bite registration can be disinfected, and its inhibition layer can be removed with alcohol.

Splinting of implant caps

1. Positioning transfer caps onto the implant abutments.
2. Injection of Duroc around the transfert caps until they are covered by the material. Polymerization starts immediately.
3. When the material is set, proceed with the final impression.
4. The fastened transfer caps together, will be removed from the mouth together with the impression.

Note To register a complete dental arch, use Duroc in segments (3-4 teeth).

Storage & shelf-life

• The product must be used by the expiration date indicated on the package.
• Do not expose the product to sun-light or warm sources.
• Store at a temperature between 5°C and 25°C. When the product is stored in the refrigerator, it should be brought back to room temperature 15 minutes minimum before use, in order to restore its normal viscosity and curing time.
• Use the product at room temperature. Important notice
• Leave the used mixing tip in place on the cartridge until next use.
• Do not throw away the box and the instruction for use until the product is finished.
• High humidity could damage the packaging on which important instructions and legal information are printed.
• Storage at a too high temperature could cause to age prematurely and inhibit its polymerization.
• Storage at a too low temperature leads to the decomposition of the product which will render it completely unusable
