 Phoenix

PHOENIX MD

Modified Bi-acrylic resin for temporary bridges and crowns

  • High flexural strength and slight resilience.
  • Due to its perfect thixotropy, Phoenix MD does not flow and can be injected directly in mouth, around the abutment tooth.
  • A new layer can be applied on top of an existing one up to 2 to 3 days after, maximum.
  • The new formulation has a setting time of 2’ 45".
  • Very thin oxygen inhibition layer.

Composition

Glass fillers - Hydrophilic di-methacrylate resins modified urethane di-methacrylate resin - Catalysts - Stabilizers - Additives – Pigments.

Clinical procedures

First use of a new cartridge • Remove and discard the cap of the cartridge. Under no circumstances should the cap of the cartridge be used to reseal the cartridge as this could result in the inclusion of air bubbles, inducing a cross contamination (base/catalyst) and leading to a premature polymerization of the product. • Check whether both cartridge openings are free and remove obstructing material, if any, with a suitable instrument. • Before installing a mixing tip, bleed the cartridge onto a mixing pad until the base and catalyst pastes are at the same level.

Temporary C&B

Indirect Method

1.Take a pre-operative impression. Interdental spaces should be rid of silicone material. 2. Remove and discard the used mixing tips and attach a new one on the cartridge. Insert the cartridge into the dispensing gun. 3. Blow dry impression and fill the concerned teeth area, with Phoenix MD. Always fill from the bottom up, until the impression is ¾ full. It is recommended to also inject some resin into the sulcus of the concerned teeth, with a yellow intra-oral tip, to avoid any lack of product, at the limits of the temporary crown. 4. Place the impression back in patient’s mouth and allow Phoenix MD to set undisturbed for about 40/45 seconds. 5. Remove the impression tray from mouth. At that stage, the material will be somehow flexible and will pull over any undercuts or non-parallel preparations. The material will fully cure in 2 additional minutes. 6. Remove the temporary crown or bridge from the impression and trim excesses. 7. Remove the smear layer from the surface (if any) by whipping with a cloth moistened with alcohol. 8. Polish and cement the temporary crown with a temporary cement (e.g.: Seal Temp or Seal Temp S).

PHOENIX

Direct Method

  1.  Keep the prepared abutment tooth slightly humid. Put a yellow ring mixing tip and an intra-oral tip on the cartridge and inject PHOENIX MD directly onto the teeth, starting in the sulcus.
  2. Once, the tooth is completely covered, ask the patient to bite on the uncured resin.
  3. After about 40 seconds, the resin reaches an elastic phase. Ask the patient to open wide and take the untrimmed temporary crown off the tooth and put it back a few times, to avoid any blocking with adjacent teeth.
  4. Trim the excess in the mouth, using a diamond bur, under water spray.
  5. Trim the proximal walls outside of the mouth.
  6. Polish the crown. Seal it with a temporary luting cement.
