Eugenol 

  

Eugenol (clove essence) is an essential oil in dentistry. Which is usually used as a root canal sealer and dental cement component. When mixed with the zinc oxide it produces the eugenate salt of zinc that forms a matrix that is used as a dental cement . This component of the cement is very soft and is used in areas very sensitive or close to the pulp to protect it from seals as it is not irritating or aggressive. Caution is required, as they are soft and not resistant to fluids such as saliva, that is, they affect the setting of composites or adhesives.
