The phosphor plate is inserted in the upper part of the machine and the process of reading, erasing and ejection as well as the plate dimension detection is totally automatic. Any malfunction is monitored by a color code reproduced from a smart LED display. The plate is managed through the light cover, which provides protection from light and ensures cleanliness by avoiding contact with the operator's hands.

The maximization of user-friendliness advocated by NICAL is found again in the imaging software that does not require special adjustment to be made on the image capturing, thanks both to the particular preprocessing, previously carried out at the hardware level during the reading process, and to the automatic adjustment of the exposure, which grants to eliminate over and under exposure.

Beside that, the NEW imaging software, based on a multi standard platform which can mix different operating systems and different hardware (either windows or android), offers a very high level of flexibility, system integration and data exchanging never seen before. The powerful Imaging software offers DICOM interface with RIS and PACS; furthermore, it can be also linked to third-parties practice management application so as to share patient’s database and multi printing procedures are allowed.
